Why Make Pull-Out Cabinets a Part of Your Kitchen Renovation?

About Me
Remodeling Your Home So It Works for Your Family

Hi, I'm Veronica, and welcome to my blog. I first realised my home was no longer suitable for us when I went to a friend's house for dinner and she finished cooking a whole hour quicker than I would have! My house was great when my husband and I were the only inhabitants, but it just didn't work for a family with three kids. Luckily, our next door neighbour, Toby, was a remodeling contractor. Toby taught us so much about home remodeling and eventually renovated most of the rooms in our house so they were fit for our family. I'm eternally grateful for the information Toby shared with me, so now I'm passing on the good deed by posting the advice here for you.

Why Make Pull-Out Cabinets a Part of Your Kitchen Renovation?

There are plenty of things to consider when you're remodelling a kitchen, but people often fail to give proper attention to their cabinets. Sure, you might have thought about how the outsides of each cabinet will look, but what about how they look inside? Most people simply opt for the standard cabinets with one or two shelves, but pull-out cabinets can be far more advantageous.

As their name implies, pull-out cabinets contain shelves that sit on rails, allowing them to be fully pulled out. Here's just a few reasons why they could be a great fit for your kitchen renovation.

Increased Storage Space

What are cabinets meant for? Storage! As such, it only makes sense to increase the amount of storage space at your disposal, and pull-out drawers are an excellent way to do just that. Shelves can be filled as far back into the cabinet space as possible, since everything is going to be exposed when you pull them out. With normal cabinets, there's no point making them too deep because anything put too far towards the back will be very hard to get at, but that's not a problem with pull-out cabinets. Additionally, pull-out shelves tend to have lots of smaller shelves instead of just one big one, so you'll make use of every square inch within the cabinet instead of just the space along the bottom.

Easy Access

Another clear advantage of fitting pull-out cabinets is that it's going to be a lot easier to lay your hands on everything you need. For example, when you're cooking a complicated dish, you can have the shelves pulled out to expose all your herbs and spices. And if you're just looking for those cocktail sticks you know you have or the cocoa you think is lying around somewhere, all you need to do is pull out the shelves, with no need to pull everything out piece by piece or to get down on your hands and knees.

Organisation

Organising everything in the kitchen can be tough. For starters, there's a whole lot of things to organise, and you'll typically have lots of random bits and pieces that need to be accommodated. Pull-out cabinets can help because their shelves allow for quite a wide degree of customization. If you use a lot of spices, you can have one shelf dedicated to those alone. Know the different flavours you can achieve with olive oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and so on? Pick a pull-out shelf with room for plenty of heavy bottles along the bottom.
